Kagondo St. Joseph Hospital Foundation (KSJHF) is a charitable nonprofit 501(c)(3) whose mission is to improve the accessibility of services for orthopedic care, treatment of trauma, skin grafting, birth defect correction and artificial limbs, and to supply orthopedic implants and other necessary equipment for people in the Kagera region of NW Tanzania through services at St. Joseph Hospital. Today, St. Joseph Hospital is the leading center for the treatment of trauma and orthopedic disease in the region.
KSJHF also helps raise awareness of related issues impacting the people in the Kegera region and other organizations contributing to positive outcomes including:
- The Awaited One Hand Organization provides transportation and lodging for amputees while KSJHF pays for artificial limbs. The first amputee fitted from this new charity is featured in the organization's newsletter.
- Prevalence of Road Traffic Accidents & Death in low socioeconomic communities.
- Prevalence and Dangers of Cooking Fires.
