Dear friends of Kagondo St. Joseph Hospital Foundation (KSJHF),
Attached is a testimonial from a Muslim charity called The Awaited One Hand Organization (TAOH) founded by my friend Mubaarak Abdullah in 2019. The story is about a little boy who lost his leg when it became entangled in the spokes of a motorcycle. TAOH sent him to our prosthetic center and we fitted him with a prosthesis. Mubaarak obtained funding for the limb from a Muslim brother in Dubai.
Mubaarak was once a key figure in another Muslim charity based in Bukoba, Tanzania. He left there a few years ago and now has started his own charity. Remember that charity is one of the five pillars of Islam. With all of the conflicts in the world it should give us great peace and hope for the future to see this cooperation between Christianity and Islam.
TAOH is also helping us in providing care for the many people in our area who have developed large goiters of the thyroid gland. Dr. Buname will hold an ENT (ear, nose and throat) clinic at St. Joseph Hospital on March 9th to evaluate patients with goiters. The smaller goiters may be opportunities for surgery at St. Joseph Hospital and the larger ones will be sent to the Bugando Medical Centre in nearby Mwanza. TAOH will financially assist the patients with transportation and lodging at both hospitals. With your continued generous contributions our organization will fund the surgeries at St. Joseph Hospital.
At the recommendation of Sengi Magogwa, our leading prosthetist, we have recently purchased materials to construct prosthetics from “Swiss Limbs” for $12,818. These prosthetics will utilize the Soft Ankle Cushion Heel (SACH) for the foot and ankle part of the prosthetic lower limbs. SACH has been the standard in the developed world and is considerably more durable than what we are using now.
Our financial report for 2019 follows. We received contributions of more than $40,000. The money has been wisely spent.
